Originally Published August 31, 2012; Last Updated January 23, 2018; Last Republished January 23, 2018:

The 2012-2013 2017-2018 Flu Season is upon us and our CDC has announced its virus composition: A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus; A/Victoria/361/2011 (H3N2)-like virus; B/Wisconsin/1/2010-like virus (from the B/Yamagata lineage of viruses).

The 2012-2013-vaccine composition does not cover virus H3N2v so if you're around pigs or around someone that is around pigs you may want to mention this fact to your doctor—as of August 31, 2012 there have been 289 cases (2012) of H3N2v cases reported by CDC.
